Dorin Cucicov(b. 1988) is an interactive artist based in Bucharest. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science and a Master of Arts degree in Interactive Technologies in Media and Performance Art, Dorin is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Interdisciplinary School of Doctoral Studies in Bucharest, where the focus of his research lies in emotion recognition from sound.
Dorin’s research primarily revolves around interactive environments, emerging AI technologies, and the intricate dynamics of human-machine collaboration. Alongside his academic pursuits, Dorin actively contributes to the field by teaching a Creative Coding lab at UNATC University in Bucharest.
Within his artistic practice, Dorin explores the concept of sentient machines and delves into the role of emotions in the relationship between humans and machines. Over the course of the last three years, he has developed a series of interactive installations that engage with this dualism. Moreover, Dorin’s artistic work encompasses sound performances, net art, DIY electronics, and live coding.
